3329漸之乾[旦種穀豆, 暮成藿羹]釋序卦"物不可以終止, 故受之以漸. 漸者, 進也." [心之所願]釋未濟九四象"貞吉, 悔亡, 志行也." [志快意愜]釋乾初九"乾龍勿用." [集注]2250明夷之履.

3329 渐之乾[早上种下谷物和豆子,傍晚就煮成了豆叶做的羹汤],用来解释《序卦》中所说的 “事物不可能一直处于终止状态,所以接着是渐卦。渐,就是前进的意思”。[心中所期望的],用来解释《未济》卦九四爻的象辞 “坚守正道就吉祥,悔恨消失,是因为志向得以施行”。[志向实现,心情畅快],用来解释《乾》卦初九爻 “乾龙(指潜藏的龙)此时不要施展作用”。[集注]:参考 2250 条《明夷》变为《履》的注解。

Translation:For "Jian turning into Qian" of 3329:["Planting grains and beans in the morning and making a soup with bean leaves in the evening"] is used to explain what is said in the "Xugua" (Explanation of the Sequence of Hexagrams) that "Things cannot be in a state of termination all the time, so it is followed by the hexagram of Jian. Jian means progress." ["What one wishes in the heart"] is used to explain the image words of the fourth yang line of the hexagram of Weiji that "Being upright and steadfast brings good fortune, and the regret disappears. It is because the aspiration can be carried out." ["The aspiration is achieved and the mood is pleasant"] is used to explain the first yang line of the hexagram of Qian that "The Qianlong (the hidden dragon) should not exert its function at this time." ["It will not bring disaster to oneself"] is used to explain the image words of the hexagram of Kun that "The momentum of the earth is gentle and compliant, so gentlemen should tolerate all things with profound virtue." 3332 渐之蒙[众多鸟儿飞翔的地方,其中有很大的怪异之事],用来解释《渐》卦九三爻 “大雁渐渐飞到陆地上,丈夫出征一去不返,妇人怀孕却不能顺利生育,有凶险。有利于抵御敌寇”。[九个身体却没有头颅,魂魄都被惊吓得离去],用来解释《屯》卦六三爻 “君子在事情的端倪出现时,不如舍弃(这件事),前往会有困难”。[不可以居住在此处],用来解释《蒙》卦六四爻 “被困于蒙昧之中,有困难”。[集注]:参考 0088 条《坤》变为《复》、0717 条《否》变为《同人》、3204 条《震》变为《蒙》、3523 条《旅》变为《屯》的注解。

Translation:For "Jian turning into Meng" of 3332:["Where many birds are flying, there is a great strange thing among them"] is used to explain the third yang line of the hexagram of Jian that "The wild geese gradually fly to the land. The husband goes on an expedition and never returns. The woman is pregnant but cannot give birth smoothly. There is danger. It is beneficial to resist the invaders." ["Nine bodies but no head, and the soul and spirit are scared away"] is used to explain the third yin line of the hexagram of Tun that "When the signs of a matter appear, a gentleman might as well give up (this matter). Going forward will bring difficulties." ["It is not advisable to live here"] is used to explain the fourth yin line of the hexagram of Meng that "Trapped in ignorance, there are difficulties." 3333漸之需[交侵如亂, 民無聊頼]釋漸九三"鴻漸于陸, 夫征不復, 婦孕不育, 凶, 利禦寇." [追戎濟西]釋蒙上九"擊蒙, 不利為寇, 利禦寇." [敵人破陣]釋需九三"o需于泥, 致寇至." 尚注"左傳莊十八年:追戎於濟西, 不言其來, 諱之也."

3333 渐之需[交替侵扰如同战乱,百姓没有依靠],用来解释《渐》卦九三爻 “大雁渐渐飞到陆地上,丈夫出征一去不返,妇人怀孕却不能顺利生育,有凶险,有利于抵御敌寇”。[追击敌军到济水西边],用来解释《蒙》卦上九爻 “打击蒙昧(之人),不利于做侵犯者,有利于抵御侵犯”。[敌人攻破阵营],用来解释《需》卦九三爻 “在泥沼中等待,招致敌寇到来”。尚氏注解 “《左传・庄公十八年》记载:在济水西边追击敌军,没有说敌军是怎么来的,是有所忌讳”。

Translation:For "Jian turning into Xu" of 3333:["Alternately invading like a war chaos, and the common people have no support"] is used to explain the third yang line of the hexagram of Jian that "The wild geese gradually fly to the land. The husband goes on an expedition and never returns. The woman is pregnant but cannot give birth smoothly. There is danger. It is beneficial to resist the invaders." ["Chasing the enemy army to the west of the Jishui River"] is used to explain the top yang line of the hexagram of Meng that "Striking the ignorant (people), it is not beneficial to be an invader, but beneficial to resist the invasion." ["The enemy breaks through the camp"] is used to explain the third yang line of the hexagram of Xu that "Waiting in the mire, which 招致 s the arrival of the invaders." Shang's annotation: "Recorded in 'Zuo Zhuan (Zuo's Commentary on the Spring and Autumn Annals), Duke Zhuang's 18th year': Chasing the enemy army to the west of the Jishui River. It doesn't say how the enemy army came, which is out of taboo."

 

3334漸之訟[麟鳳所翔, 國無咎殃]釋漸上九"其羽可用為儀, 吉, 不可亂也." [賈市十倍] 䆁需九五"需于酒食, 貞吉." 指買賣獲利十倍. [復歸惠鄉]釋訟九四"復即命, 渝, 安貞不失也."

3334 渐之讼[麒麟和凤凰飞翔的地方,国家没有灾祸],用来解释《渐》卦上九爻 “它的羽毛可以用来作为礼仪装饰,吉祥,不可扰乱”。[买卖获利十倍],参照《需》卦九五爻 “在酒食中等待,坚守正道吉祥”。指的是做买卖能获得十倍的利润。[回到家乡施予恩惠],用来解释《讼》卦九四爻 “回复就听从命令,改变(态度),坚守正道就不会有损失”。

Translation:For "Jian turning into Song" of 3334:["Where the unicorn and the phoenix fly, the country has no disasters"] is used to explain the top yang line of the hexagram of Jian that "Its feathers can be used for ritual decoration. It is auspicious and should not be disrupted." ["Making ten times the profit in business"] refers to the fifth yang line of the hexagram of Xu that "Waiting with wine and food. Being upright and steadfast brings good fortune." It means that one can make ten times the profit in business. ["Returning to the hometown and bestowing kindness"] is used to explain the fourth yang line of the hexagram of Song that "Reply and follow the order, change (the attitude), and being upright and steadfast will cause no loss."

 

3335漸之師[鑿井求玉, 非卜氏寶]釋漸初六"鴻漸于干, 小子厲." [身困名辱]釋訟象"天與水違行, 訟. 君子以作事謀始." [勞無所得]釋六三象"師或輿尸, 大无功也." [ 集注]0211蒙之臨, 0285需之坎, 0902謙之訟.

3335 渐之师[挖井去寻找玉石,(这玉石)不是卜氏家族的宝物],用来解释《渐》卦初六爻 “大雁渐渐飞到水边,小孩子有危险”。[自身被困,名声受辱],用来解释《讼》卦的象辞 “天与水的运行方向相反,象征着讼。君子做事要在开始时就谋划好”。[劳动却没有收获],用来解释《师》卦六三爻的象辞 “军队有时载着尸体归来,说明没有大的功劳”。[集注]:参考 0211 条《蒙》变为《临》、0285 条《需》变为《坎》、0902 条《谦》变为《讼》的注解。

Translation:For "Jian turning into Shi" of 3335:["Digging a well to look for jade, (this jade) is not the treasure of the Bu family"] is used to explain the first yin line of the hexagram of Jian that "The wild geese gradually fly to the water's edge. The child is in danger." ["Being trapped oneself and one's reputation being humiliated"] is used to explain the image words of the hexagram of Song that "The movement directions of heaven and water are opposite, which symbolizes litigation. Gentlemen should plan well at the beginning when doing things." ["Working but getting no harvest"] is used to explain the image words of the third yin line of the hexagram of Shi that "Sometimes the army returns with the corpses, indicating that there is no great merit." 3336漸之比[文山鴻豹, 肥腯多脂]釋漸上九"鴻漸于陸, 其羽可用為儀, 吉." 翟云"格致鏡原引庶物異名疏:鴇一名鴻豹, 謂鴇能食鴻也." 腯:胖. [王孫獲願]釋師上六"大君有命, 開國承家." [載福巍巍]. 釋比六四"外比於賢, 以從上也."

3336 渐之比[文山上的鸿豹,肥壮且多油脂],用来解释《渐》卦上九爻 “大雁渐渐飞到陆地上,它的羽毛可以用来作为礼仪装饰,吉祥”。翟氏说 “《格致镜原》引用《庶物异名疏》:鸨鸟又叫做鸿豹,是说鸨鸟能捕食大雁”。腯:意思是胖。[王孙实现了愿望],用来解释《师》卦上六爻 “国君发布命令,(可以)建立邦国,继承家族”。[承载着崇高的福气],用来解释《比》卦六四爻 “向外亲近贤能之人,以跟随在上位者”。

Translation:For "Jian turning into Bi" of 3336:["The Hongbao (a kind of bird) on Wenshan Mountain is fat and has a lot of fat"] is used to explain the top yang line of the hexagram of Jian that "The wild geese gradually fly to the land. Its feathers can be used for ritual decoration. It is auspicious." Mr. Zhai said: "In 'Gezhi Jingyuan' quoting 'Shuwu Yiming Shu': The bustard is also called Hongbao, which means that the bustard can prey on wild geese." "Tuo" means fat. ["The grandson of the king has achieved his wish"] is used to explain the top yin line of the hexagram of Shi that "The king issues an order, (one can) establish a state and inherit the family." ["Bearing lofty blessings"] is used to explain the fourth yin line of the hexagram of Bi that "Be close to the virtuous and capable people outwardly to follow the superior."

 

3337漸之小畜[周成之隆, 刑措除凶]䆁漸象"山上有木, 漸. 君子以居賢德善俗." [太宰費石]釋比九五象"顯比之吉, 位正中也." [君子作人]釋小畜象"風行天上, 小畜. 君子以懿文德." 尚注”左傳莊八年:反, 誅履歷於徒人費, 鞭之見血, 出, 遇賊於門, 袒而示之臂, 請先入, 伏公而出, 鬥死于門中, 石之紛如死于階下. 費, 石皆忠於襄公者, 故下曰作人.” 集注]2050遯之坤.

3337 渐之小畜[周朝成王时期的兴盛,刑罚搁置不用以消除凶害],参照《渐》卦的象辞 “山上有树木,象征着渐。君子应蓄积贤德来改善风俗”。[太宰费和石之纷如(两个人名)],用来解释《比》卦九五爻的象辞 “显著地亲近(众人)的吉祥,是因为处于中正之位”。[君子成就他人],用来解释《小畜》卦的象辞 “风在天上运行,象征着小畜。君子应修美文德”。尚氏注解 “《左传・庄公八年》记载:返回后,在徒人费那里追查鞋子的踪迹,鞭打他直到见血,出来后,在门口遇到贼人,袒露手臂给贼人看,请求先进入(屋内),(然后)藏好襄公后出来,在门口战斗而死,石之纷如死在台阶下。费和石都是忠于襄公的人,所以下面说成就他人”。[集注]:参考 2050 条《遁》变为《坤》的注解。

Translation:For "Jian turning into Xiaoxu" of 3337:["The prosperity during the reign of King Cheng of the Zhou Dynasty, where punishments were put aside to eliminate disasters"] refers to the image words of the hexagram of Jian that "There are trees on the mountain, which symbolizes Jian. Gentlemen should accumulate virtuous qualities to improve the social customs." ["The Grand Minister Fei and Shi Zhifenru (two names)"] is used to explain the image words of the fifth yang line of the hexagram of Bi that "The auspiciousness of obviously being close to (the masses) is because of being in the middle and correct position." ["Gentlemen help others achieve success"] is used to explain the image words of the hexagram of Xiaoxu that "The wind is moving in the sky, which symbolizes Xiaoxu. Gentlemen should cultivate beautiful cultural virtues." Shang's annotation: "Recorded in 'Zuo Zhuan (Zuo's Commentary on the Spring and Autumn Annals), Duke Zhuang's 8th year': After returning, tracing the whereabouts of the shoes at Tu Ren Fei's place, whipping him until there was blood. After going out, meeting the thieves at the door, baring the arm to show the thieves, requesting to enter (the house) first, (then) hiding Duke Xiang and coming out, fighting and dying at the door, and Shi Zhifenru dying under the steps. Both Fei and Shi were loyal to Duke Xiang, so it is said below 'helping others achieve success'." 3338漸之履[珪璧琮璋, 執贄見王]釋漸彖"漸之進也....進得位, 往有功也. 進以正, 往有功也." [百里𡩋戚] 釋小畜九五"有孚攣如, 富以其鄰." 言君與臣誠信相連, 與臣共享富貴. [應聘齊秦]釋履上九象"元吉在上, 大有慶也." 言高居上位, 大有吉慶.[集注]0304需之井, 0710否之訟, 4081未濟之革.

3338 渐之履[拿着珪、璧、琮、璋等玉器,带着礼物去拜见君王],用来解释《渐》卦的彖辞 “渐卦所表示的前进…… 前进而得到合适的位置,前往就会有功绩。以正道前进,前往就会有功绩”。[百里奚和甯戚(两位贤才)],用来解释《小畜》卦九五爻 “心怀诚信相互牵连,与邻人一同富有”。说的是君主与臣子诚信相连,与臣子共享富贵。[接受齐国和秦国的聘请],用来解释《履》卦上九爻的象辞 “大吉在上面,有很大的吉庆之事”。说的是高居上位,会有很大的吉庆。[集注]:参考 0304 条《需》变为《井》、0710 条《否》变为《讼》、4081 条《未济》变为《革》的注解。

Translation:For "Jian turning into Lü" of 3338:["Holding jade items such as gui, bi, cong, and zhang, and going to meet the king with gifts"] is used to explain the Tuan commentary of the hexagram of Jian that "The progress represented by the hexagram of Jian... Progressing and obtaining a suitable position, going forward will bring achievements. Progressing with the right path, going forward will bring achievements." ["Baili Xi and Ning Qi (two virtuous talents)"] is used to explain the fifth yang line of the hexagram of Xiaoxu that "With sincere trust connected to each other, being rich together with neighbors." It means that the monarch and the ministers are connected by sincerity and trust, and share wealth and honor with the ministers. ["Accepting the invitations from the states of Qi and Qin"] is used to explain the image words of the top yang line of the hexagram of Lü that "Great auspiciousness is on the top, and there are great auspicious and joyful events." It means that being in a high position will bring great auspiciousness and joy. 3339 渐之泰[穿透并漏得彻底,破坏得残缺不全],用来解释《渐》卦九三爻 “大雁渐渐飞到陆地上,丈夫出征一去不返,妇人怀孕却不能顺利生育,有凶险。有利于抵御敌寇”。[制陶的人不能治理好(这种情况)],参照《杂卦》中 “《履》卦,表示不停留”。[瓦片破碎不完整],瓦片破碎不齐全。用来解释《泰》卦上六爻的象辞 “城墙倒塌在护城河中,它的命运混乱了”。[集注]:参考 2157 条《大壮》变为《萃》的注解。

["The potter cannot manage (this situation) well"] refers to what is said in the "Zagua" that "The hexagram of Lü means not staying." ["The tiles are broken and incomplete"], the tiles are broken and not complete. It is used to explain the image words of the top yin line of the hexagram of Tai that "The city wall collapses into the moat, and its fate is in chaos." 3340 渐之否[大雁高飞沿着河岸],用来解释《渐》卦九三爻 “大雁渐渐飞到陆地上,丈夫出征一去不返”。[老爷外出没有回来],用来解释《泰》卦九三爻 “没有始终平坦而不倾斜的,没有只去而不回的”。[伯氏(您)在此留宿],留您在这里住两晚。用来解释《否》卦九四爻 “有天命,没有过错,同类的人都获得福祉”。[集注]:参考 0435 条《师》变为《震》、1454 条《剥》变为《升》、2599 条《损》变为《蹇》、3853 条《中孚》变为《同人》的注解。

["The master goes out and doesn't come back"] is used to explain the third yang line of the hexagram of Tai that "There is no situation that is always flat without inclining, and there is no case of just going without returning." ["Lord Bo stays here as a guest"], leaving you here to stay for two nights. It is used to explain the fourth yang line of the hexagram of Pi that "There is the will of heaven, there is no fault, and people of the same kind all obtain blessings." 3386 渐之兑[依仗着(父母等)而自负,不愿处于低下的位置],用来解释《渐》卦初六爻 “小孩子有危险,有所言说”。尚氏注解 “《诗经》说:没有父亲依靠什么,没有母亲依靠什么。” “意思是有所依靠就不肯处于低下的位置”。[血从地下流出来],用来解释《巽》卦九三爻 “频频表示顺从,有困难”。[惩罚不符合道理],用来解释《兑》卦九五爻 “对剥落之事心怀诚信,有危险”。

3387 渐之涣[长江、黄河、淮河、大海,是上天的都市(重要之地)],用来解释《渐》卦六二爻 “大雁渐渐飞到大石上,饮食和乐,吉祥”。意思是安稳踏实地渐进,就像大雁飞到磐石之上,和乐地饮食,吉祥。[商人受到福气,国家富饶],参照《兑》卦的彖辞 “兑,就是喜悦的意思”。[使我们的君子快乐,承受各种福气],用来解释《涣》卦九二爻 “涣散之时奔向安身的根基,悔恨消失”。意思是奔向神妙的机会、安身的地方,得以承受福气。[集注]:参考 0020 条《乾》变为《观》、0705 条《否》变为《乾》、0905 条《谦》变为《小畜》、0912 条《谦》变为《豫》、1666 条《颐》变为《坤》、2845 条《萃》变为《坎》、3217 条《震》变为《随》、3694 条《兑》变为《升》的注解。

3392 渐之未济[阴气和阳气相互匹配又相互争斗,横卧的树木反而竖立起来],用来解释《渐》卦九三爻 “丈夫出征一去不返,妇人怀孕却不能顺利生育,有凶险”。[君子有所行动],用来解释《既济》卦的象辞 “水在火的上面,象征着既济。君子应思考祸患并预先防范”。[丧失了他的官职],用来解释《未济》卦的卦名(含义),即事情没有成功。尚氏注解 “汉昭帝元凤三年春天,上林苑中有棵枯倒的柳树自己立起来又生长了,所以说横卧的树木反而竖立起来。当时眭孟说枯柳重新立起,将会有平民成为天子,(眭孟)后来被诛杀。第三、四句也好像是指这件事”。

The woman is pregnant but cannot give birth smoothly. There is danger." ["The gentleman takes action"] is used to explain the image words of the hexagram of Jiji that "Water is above fire, symbolizing Jiji. Gentlemen should think about the disasters and prevent them in advance." ["Losing his official position"] is used to explain the meaning of the name of the hexagram of Weiji, that is, the matter has not been successful. Shang's annotation: "In the spring of the third year of Yuanfeng of Emperor Zhaodi of the Han Dynasty, there was a withered and fallen willow in Shanglinyuan that stood up and grew again by itself, so it is said that the lying tree stands up instead. At that time, Sui Meng said that the withered willow standing up again meant that there would be a commoner becoming the emperor, and (Sui Meng) was later executed.
